COWICHAN VALLEY – Malahat fire chief Rob Patterson thought he’d heard and seen it all during his many years of attending traffic crashes.
That was until Oct. 27 when he was shocked by stranded motorists verbally abusing his first-responder crew while police investigated a fatal crash — involving a T-bone collision between two northbound vehicles — that stalled Malahat Drive traffic for about four hours near the Malahat Bungalows Motel.
“We’ve taken heat over the years many times but that one was the pinnacle,” said Patterson of the collision that closed lanes in both directions between 5 and 9 p.m.. Read Full Story >
