SHAWNIGNAN LAKE – An appeal-battle reversal for Shawnigan Lake’s water warriors has left residents angry and confused with B.C.’s justice system.
“Today’s result was disappointing, to say the least,” said Calvin Cook, president of the Shawnigan Residents Association.
His dismay followed Appeal Court Justice Pamela Kirkpatrick’s April 15 overturning of a March Supreme Court ruling that stopped toxic-soil dumping into South Island Aggregates’ provincially permitted treatment facility in Shawnigan’s watershed.
